Overview
These are the technical instructions for removing Paubox Encrypted Email and Inbound Security for G Suite. Please be sure to let us know you are canceling your Paubox subscription by sending an email to support@paubox.com.
If you use Google Workspace and Paubox's Encrypted Email and/or Inbound Security solutions but are parting ways with Paubox, you'll need to follow these steps to return your email to its original routing.
Part I: Your Domain - Update Your Records
- Log in to your Domain Host
- Click on the Control Panel (may also be called DNS Zone Editor, or just DNS)
- Find the record of type TXT with a value similar to: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.paubox.com -all
- Edit the record and remove only "include:_spf.paubox.com" from the value (leaving the rest of the record in place)
- Click Save
Part II: Google Workspace - Adjust Gmail Settings
- Go to your Google Admin Panel (admin.google.com)
- Click the Apps icon
- Click on the Google Workspace box
- Click on the Gmail icon
- On the next screen (Settings for Gmail), scroll down to the bottom and click Routing >>
- In the Outbound gateway field, delete the line: outbound.paubox.com
- Click the SAVE button at the bottom right corner of the screen

Removing Inbound Security (if applicable)
Inbound Security Part I: Your Domain - Update Your Records
- Log in to your Domain Host
- Click on the Control Panel (may also be called DNS Zone Editor, or just DNS)
- Find the record of type MX with a value of: mx2.paubox.com/ mx.paubox.com
- Edit that MX record - leave type MX; priority 1; change the value to: aspmx.l.google.com
- Create the 4 additional original Google MX records & Save:

MX 5 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com
MX 5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com
MX 10 alt4.aspmx.l.google.com
MX 10 alt3.aspmx.l.google.com
Inbound Security Part II: Google Workspace - Adjust Gmail Settings
- Go to your Google Admin Panel (admin.google.com)
- Click the Apps icon
- Click on the Google Workspace box
- Click on the Gmail icon
- On the next screen (Settings for Gmail), scroll until you reach Spam, phishing, and malware >>
- On the next screen, scroll down to the Inbound Gateway section
- Where you see Inbound gateway, click on the pencil on the right-hand side
- Delete the Gateway IPs and uncheck Enable
- Click SAVE
