DLP quarantine notifications

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) quarantines emails that violate your organization’s DLP rules. When email is quarantined, Paubox can send automated alerts to notify relevant users based on their role. DLP is available with Paubox Email Suite Premium.

Role-based notifications

Paubox supports different notification behaviors depending on a user’s assigned permissions.

DLP Admin

  • Receive alerts for both inbound and outbound emails that are quarantined by DLP

DLP Notifyee

  • Users with the DLP Notifyee permission receive alerts whenever an email (inbound or outbound) is quarantined by DLP.

  • This role is commonly assigned to compliance officers or security team members who need visibility into DLP activity without full admin privileges.

Automatic sender alerts

For outbound emails that are caught by DLP, you can choose to notify the sender of the email with an automated DLP alert notification to inform the individual users when their messages have been quarantined due to DLP policy.

To turn on the automated notifications to senders, follow these steps:

  1. In the admin dashboard, navigate to Data Loss Prevention > Settings
  2. Toggle On the setting to Notify sender

Note: If Notify sender is toggled OFF, DLP admin and DLP notifyees will still receive DLP activity notifications.
