Import a fillable PDF as a Paubox Form

If you already have a fillable PDF form, turn it into a Paubox Form without rebuilding it field by field. Paubox reads the PDF's fillable fields, matches each one to a form field type, and gives you a chance to review everything before the form is created.

Import a PDF

1. From Paubox Forms, click Import from PDF.
2. Select a fillable PDF from your computer or a connected drive.
3. Paubox reads the PDF and opens the Import from PDF screen with a suggested form title and a table of detected fields.

Review what was detected

Before you create the form, Paubox flags anything it couldn't carry over exactly, so you can review it before the form goes live. The exact flags depend on your PDF, but common ones include:

• Date format not preserved. Dates import as Date fields, but the original format shown on the PDF isn't kept. Set the format you want on each date field, see [Set an input format on a Paubox Forms field].
• Signature captured as a drawing. A signature field on the PDF imports as a drawn-signature field. It captures a drawing of a signature; it doesn't reproduce a digital signing flow.
• Text from the page was imported. Headings and instructions printed on the PDF import as text blocks. Review them before you create the form.

Click Show next to any flag to jump to the affected fields.

Check the field table

Each detected field lists its label, field type, whether it's required, and, for Input Field questions, its format (Any, Email, Phone Number, Number, Date, SSN, ZIP code). Edit the label, change the type, toggle required on or off, change the format, or delete a field, right from this screen, before you create the form.

Create the form

When the fields look right, click Create Form.
