What is the Mail Log?
All incoming emails passing through Paubox servers are listed in the Mail Log in the Inbound Security section of your Paubox dashboard.
How the Mail Log works
The Mail Log provides detailed information about each email, including the Category and delivery Status. 45 days of email history are preserved in the Mail Log.
Note that the full body of the email is not available, except with Paubox Email Suite Premium (Archiving).
Some of the key data points that are displayed:
- Size: The overall size of the email, including content and attachments.
- Category: Legit, Virus, Phish, Spam, or Gray (gray mail can be quarantined or delivered, adjustable).
- Score: The spam or security score assigned to every email by our algorithms, which determines deliverability ... lower scored emails are safer; higher scored emails are more malicious or "spammy."
- Date: When the email was received, including date/time.
- Status: The delivery status of incoming email messages - most often "Delivered" or "Quarantined" (some Quarantined statuses also reflect the specific reason, such as ExecProtect or Geofence).
How to view or filter the Mail Log:
- Click any column header to sort the Mail Log by that value. Column widths are adjustable.
- The Domains and Date Range filters provide easy filtering to show a subset of incoming email.
- The Search bar allows you to search the existing inbound Mail Log. Type any text in the search bar, or click on the Advanced Filters menu button for a more refined search.
- You can download the contents of the Mail Log by clicking the Export CSV button.
