Manage encrypted and unencrypted senders

By default, all email addresses sending from your domain are automatically encrypted through Paubox. This ensures that your organization’s communications remain HIPAA compliant and secure.

With the Senders page in the Paubox dashboard, admins have visibility and control over which email addresses are encrypted or unencrypted.

Overview of the Senders page

On the Senders page, you’ll see two tabs:

  1. Encrypted Senders: All email addresses sending from your domain that are automatically encrypted through Paubox.

  2. Unencrypted Senders: Email addresses you’ve chosen not to send encrypted email through Paubox. These do not count toward your sender count for billing.

Note: Email addresses are automatically added to the Encrypted Senders list when they send mail, to ensure every email is HIPAA compliant. You cannot manually add emails to this list, but you can manually move emails to the Unencrypted Senders list.

Managing encrypted senders

If you have an email address that should not send encrypted email:

  1. In the Paubox dashboard, go to Outbound Security > Senders
  2. Go to the Encrypted Senders tab
  3. Select the checkbox next to the email address
  4. In the Actions dropdown, select Move to Unencrypted Senders.

Remove encrypted senders

If an email address is no longer in use (e.g., an employee leaves the company):

  1. In the Paubox dashboard, go to Outbound Security > Senders
  2. Go to the Encrypted Senders tab
  3. Select the checkbox next to the email address
  4. In the Actions dropdown, select Remove Encrypted Senders

Note: If this email address sends mail again in the future, it will be automatically added back to the Encrypted Senders list.
