You’ll need to sign up for Paubox Marketing to get started (Don't have an account? Sign up here!)
In this section, we cover updating your domain's DNS record so Paubox has permission to send marketing emails from your domain.
Update your DNS records
To get started, you will need access to your domain hosting account in order to update your DNS records. If you're not the one who handles this for your organization, pass the information below to the person on your team who manages your domain host (this might be your IT team or web developer/designer).
- Log in to your domain host account and locate where the DNS records for your domain are hosted (view how-to guides from commonly used domain hosts).
- Click on the Control Panel (may also be called DNS Zone Editor, or just DNS).
- If you see a record of type TXT that begins with “v=spf1”, edit the record and insert "include:_spf.paubox.com" just before the -all; then click save.
Examples:
If you use Google Workspace
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.paubox.com -all
If you use M365
v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:_spf.paubox.com -allNote: there may be other "includes" or IP numbers in the record, that is fine, just insert the "include:_spf.paubox.com" right before the -all
- If you do not see a record of type TXT that starts with v=spf1, create a new one:
- In the record section, click Add (may also be called Add Record)
- For Type, enter TXT
- In the Host Field, type: @ (if it does not accept the @ symbol, enter your domain)
- In the TXT value or Text field, type this line:
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.paubox.com -all
If you use M365
v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:_spf.paubox.com -all
- Leave the default value in the TTL field
- Click Save
The settings for each domain host will be managed differently. Below are some common domain host guides, for your reference. If you'd like some assistance getting your SPF record updated, please reach out to us: support@paubox.com.
