Resolve "Account Under Review" (HTTP 403) errors
Newly created Paubox Email API accounts undergo an automatic 24-hour anti-abuse review to safeguard deliverability and protect our sending network. During this window, API requests return an HTTP 403 response, preventing outbound email delivery until the hold clears.
How the review process works
When you register a new Email API account, our system automatically applies a standard security hold for the first 24 hours. During this period, send requests—including single, bulk, and SMTP-API sends—are rejected.
API requests made while under review return an HTTP 403 status code with the following response message:
New accounts are under review for 24 hours after signup. Please try again later or contact support.
This temporary hold is an automated procedure for all new signups. It is not an account-specific block or a credential error.
Resolving an HTTP 403 response
In most cases, no action is required. The hold clears automatically 24 hours after account creation, allowing outbound sending to resume automatically.
If you need to begin sending before the 24-hour window ends, or if the hold remains active after 24 hours, contact Paubox Support to request an expedited review. Account activation status cannot be adjusted directly from the dashboard.
[NOTE] : Verify the exact HTTP status code returned. An HTTP 401 "not active" error indicates that the account has not been activated, which follows a different resolution path than the 403 review hold.
Troubleshooting existing accounts
If an established, long-standing Email API account suddenly receives an "Account Under Review" error, this is unexpected behavior. Please contact support immediately rather than waiting out the timer so our technical team can investigate your account.
