Wix: Update MX record for inbound security

When you set up inbound security with Paubox (available with Plus or Premium subscriptions), you'll need to update your MX records in your domain host settings to ensure your incoming email is routed through Paubox for security and scanning.

Instructions to update Wix settings

  1. Navigate to https://manage.wix.com/account
  2. Click on Domains in the left menu
  3. Next to the domain you are connecting to Paubox, click on the Domain Actions button
  4. Select Manage DNS records
  5. Scroll down to the MX (Mail Exchange) section, and check if you have an existing MX record. If you already have a MX record, follow the instructions to update that record.

Update an existing MX record (for Google Workspace accounts)

If you use Google Workspace, you will likely have 5 existing MX records. Each record is labeled with a priority number (priority 1, priority 5, priority 10).

  1. Locate an MX record that is the lowest priority (priority 10) and click on the edit button
  2. In the Value field, replace the value with the text supplied by Paubox during your setup
  3. Delete all other existing MX records (this is essential for mail to flow through Paubox)

Update an existing MX record (for Microsoft 365 accounts)

If you use Microsoft 365, you will likely have 1 existing MX record.

  1. Locate the MX record and click on the edit button
  2. In the Value field, replace the value with the text supplied by Paubox during your setup
Note: If there are multiple MX records, edit the record of the lowest priority (usually "priority 10") and replace the existing value with the appropriate Paubox mx value. Save; then delete all other MX records (this is essential for mail to flow properly through Paubox).
